Old English bantams were developed in England many years ago presumably from the common crossbred bantams of the countryside. Birchen Old English bantam chicks are almost solid black with a some white on the wing tips. They have single combs and clean, black legs and feet. Adults have white heads and black plumage on their body, stern and lower thigh. The upper breast and front of the neck is black laced with white and the lower breast feathers, wing primaries and secondaries are black. Males have white hackle and saddle plumage with each feather having a black stripe through the middle. The back is white, main tail black, and sickles greenish black. The wing bows are white creating a distinct wing bar when the wing is folded. The female's hackle is black with white lacing and the back and main tail are black. The wing shoulders, fronts and bows are all black.
Our bantams are purebred and represent the breed and variety; however, we do not guarantee or represent that they are of show quality.
